Reassessment

This month has been one of reflection. I'd been doing reasonably well but afer a disastrous session at 2/4, losing $100 in only 33 hands, I've decided to cut back on the poker playing and spend more time on the poker education.

Last month, I said that I wouldn't be taking shots at higher levels.....and what did I do....I took a shot at 2/4 purely to help in clearing a bonus. The first few sessions yielded a small profit but it was the final session that rammed home my shortcomings. There were a few hands in that session that I probably couldn't have done much about. Like having my full house losing to a higher boat when the villian turned a King and then rivered another King. Arghh. But there were a few hands in which I was being overly aggressive and then not listening when being raised on the later streets.

So for the rest of this month and next month, I'll be dropping down to 0.5/1 and doing much more reading and analysing.

Another reason for dropping down is that I have never cleared 300BB at anything other than the nano-limtits on Pokerstars. 300BB is the often quoted recommended level of bankroll you should have at a particular level before moving up. I think I'm am making the mistake of moving up too quickly. Currently, I'm up around 140BB at 0.5/1 at a rate of 2BB/100 which is acceptable. Hopefully, it won't take too long.
