I've been suffering a little bit in the heads up SNGs. Usual reasons, some of the poor play, some underserved suckouts. Like KK vs 33, 33 hits a runner runner straight, AK vs AT, another runner runner straight, AA vs Q9, one pair on flop, hits his second on the turn. You know, just the usual. My ROI has dropped to just over 6% which is probably OK but at the $2.20 level, it really should be more.
I've have a change in focus this week due to PokerStars UK-specific VIP Club offer. For the month of May, PokerStars have slashed the requirements for the VIP Club levels meaning that I only need 250 points to get SilverStar and only 500 points to get GoldStar. The SilverStar threshold was almost achieved soley on the HU SNGs and this week I decided that I may as well put in a bit of effort and get through the SilverStar barrier and get the GoldStar status. To do this, I've switched back to limit holdem and have been playing $1/$2 6 max (although I'm probably not adequately bankrolled for this limit just now). It's been going quite well. There are still fish-a-plenty who still insist of betting the flop, turn and river with absolute air. You know, I really should think about switching back to limit.
Anyhoo, 67 points to achieve before the end of the month and I'll be GoldStar until August.
