Saturday at the Spring Fling was another mixture of ups and downs. I wasn't booked up for any of the workshops....what was the point with my knee the way it was. But I realised that this would be a good opportunity to test it out. So I'm dropped in to the beginner level classes and gave it a go. The first class was Rob and Diane and it was going not too bad. The knee held out until they taught a move which involved leader leading the follower around him, under his left arm. This was fine until the rotation brought a slightly petite follower. The strain of having to bend my knees enough to allow the follower to go round without going onto her tiptoes was too much and I had to retire from the class after that. This was a setback and my mood and enthusiasm dropped and I only took part in other beginner classes when there was an excess of followers. After the low of the workshops, the Saturday night dance brought an unexpected high. My knee held out with barely a twinge and I danced all night. I had a great time and danced with tonnes of people, almost all of the girls from Galway, the two girls from Florida in Edinburgh on their Spring Break and my Aunt June. And my set at the band break was alright too.
